Oppose the Project at the BPDA
City of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and the City’s BPDA are now considering Lincoln Property’s 270-unit housing proposal at Crane Ledge Woods, as the developer has re-submitted without changes their 2021 Draft Project Impact Report as their “Final Project Impact Report”. The refiling describes a suburban-style, car-centric development that will accelerate gentrification while replacing the current tree canopy carbon sink and wildlife refuge with a heat island and asphalt, all by a developer with a long track record hostile to unions and working families.
The campaign to save Crane Ledge Woods has reached a critical juncture. Mayor Michelle Wu and the BPDA are now in the final stages of considering Lincoln Property’s 270-unit housing proposal at Crane Ledge Woods as the developer has re-submitted without changes their 990 American Legion Hwy. 2022 Draft Project Impact Report as their “Final Project Impact Report”. The clock is ticking!
The public comment period on Lincoln’s proposed final plan is open through January 27, 2023.
Please take a moment and email Mayor Wu and the BPDA for this climate and environmental justice issue, asking that:
* The Final Impact Report be “DISAPPROVED”
* The Wu Administration proactively work with the property owner Jubilee Christian Church to achieve a willing seller agreement for full conservation of this land.

A brief, personal statement of the reasons you support full conservation of Crane Ledge Woods is best. Here is our list, but please express yourself in your own words to Mayor Wu and the BPDA. (if you live and vote in Boston, it helps to state that as well).
CLWC List of Points for Inclusion in January 2023 Comment Round
The Final Impact Report must be “DISAPPROVED”
The Wu Administration should proactively work with the owner Jubilee Christian Church to achieve a willing seller agreement for full conservation of this land.
The proposed project:
Does not align with City of Boston Mayor Wu’s stated commitments to Green New Deal principles for climate, environmental justice, and sustainable, equitable development.
Does not implement measures for Urban Tree Canopy protection identified in the City’s Urban Forest Plan
Is inconsistent with City of Boston public health and climate protection measures with respect to heat island impacts and their disparate harm to residents in environmental justice communities
Inaccurately describes site natural resource values, and inadequately assesses project impacts on these natural resources
Does not implement Net Zero new construction goals and policies of the BPDA and Wu Administration
Cannot support a finding of net positive public benefit, as it does not advance worker and labor union participation and wealth sharing in projects subject to City discretionary review
Is inconsistent with the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing amendment in Article 80 that requires a developer to consider residents historically discriminated against, having taken NO steps to remedy the impact of histories of exclusion. Indeed the developer has rejected any notion that this project is a gentrifying project that will lead to displacement of LMI communities
Is incompatible with the expressed needs and desires of abutters and thousands of local stakeholders. The surrounding underserved environmental neighborhoods are dependent on this wood's protection from current and future flood threats, excessively high summer heat and air pollution generated from surrounding highways
Most of these neighborhoods are without walkable parks or urban wilds as defined by the Parks Dept. Crane Ledge Woods with its 1,100 foot long bluff is a unique treasure. This treasure without question would have already been protected if it was located in a better known section of Boston.
